DAF is the most widely sold tractor unit in the UK. More DAF trucks are bought new in Britain than any other brand, which means the used market is deep, liquid, and well understood by buyers. If you own a DAF CF or XF and you’re thinking about selling, you’re working with one of the most tradeable trucks in the country.
That breadth of supply also means buyers have options — so getting your price right, knowing what adds value to your specific spec, and choosing the right route to sell all matter. This guide covers everything you need: what your DAF is likely worth in 2026, what affects the price, and how to sell without delay or unnecessary cost.

What Is My DAF Worth in 2026?
DAF values in the UK used market remain steady in 2026. The brand’s dominance of the new truck market means there is always an active pool of buyers for good used examples, and fleet operators looking to replace ageing trucks are consistently feeding the second-hand market with well-maintained, documented vehicles.

What Affects the Value of a Used DAF?
Mileage
DAF trucks are built to cover high distances — 1.5 million kilometres on a well-maintained XF is not unusual. That said, mileage is still the first reference point for any buyer. Under 600,000km on a post-2017 Euro 6 unit is considered good. Over 1,000,000km starts to narrow the buyer pool, though well-maintained high-mileage DAFs still sell consistently, particularly for export.
Cab Specification
The XF’s Super Space Cab (SSC) commands a meaningful premium over the standard Space Cab — typically £3,000–£7,000 on comparable vehicles. Twin bunks, a stand-up cab, and premium interior finishes attract long-haul operators who spend nights in the cab. The CF’s Space Cab sits below the XF SSC in the hierarchy but is well-regarded for its versatility.
Gearbox
ZF TraXon automatic and AS Tronic semi-automatic gearboxes are strongly preferred over manual in 2026. Automatic gearbox DAFs consistently achieve higher prices and sell faster than equivalent manual-gearbox units. If yours has auto or semi-auto, make sure it’s clearly stated in any listing or enquiry.
Service History
Full DAF dealer service history is the biggest single differentiator in the used market. DAF’s PACCAR Parts and dealer network provides good documentation — buyers who see a complete record are buying with confidence rather than uncertainty. Gaps in history are reflected in lower offers. Third-party service records are accepted but attract a modest discount against dealer records.
Euro Emission Standard
The Euro 5 / Euro 6 divide matters significantly for UK domestic buyers, particularly operators working in or near Clean Air Zones. Euro 5 XF 105 trucks are still actively traded but face an increasingly narrow domestic market as more cities introduce or expand CAZ charging. Euro 6 trucks (registered from approximately 2014 onwards) are CAZ-compliant and attract the widest buyer pool.
Hydraulics and Wet Kit
DAF XF and CF units fitted with a two-line or three-line wet kit command a premium over dry units — particularly for buyers running tipping trailers, walking floors, or other hydraulic-operated equipment. If your truck has hydraulics fitted, this should be front and centre in any sale description.
Selling a High-Mileage DAF — What to Expect
One of the most common questions we get from DAF owners is whether it’s worth selling a high-mileage unit or whether it’s better to run it into the ground. The honest answer depends on what the mileage actually means for your specific truck.
A 2016 XF 480 with 1,100,000km and full DAF dealer service history is a more attractive proposition than a 2018 XF 480 with 850,000km and a patchy maintenance record. Buyers price certainty — and a documented history at high mileage often tells a better story than low mileage with unknown provenance.
What works against high-mileage DAFs:
- Tyres and brake components are scrutinised more carefully
- Buyers factor in more aggressively for older Euro 5 spec
- Chassis condition and cab presentation matter more at higher mileage
What can protect value on a high-mileage DAF:
- Complete service records throughout
- Recent major work (clutch, injectors, turbo) documented and receipted
- Good tyre condition across all axles
- Clean, well-presented cab
At Truck Trading we buy high-mileage DAFs regularly. We give honest, market-based quotes and don’t use high mileage as a blunt instrument to artificially reduce an offer.
Your Selling Options
Option 1: Sell Directly to Truck Trading
The fastest route. We buy DAF CF and XF tractor units directly across the UK — no auction risk, no commission, no delays.
- Free quote within 24 hours — based on current market data
- Same-day payment — bank transfer on collection day
- Free UK-wide collection — we come to you
- No fees or commission — the price we quote is what you receive
- All conditions accepted — working, high-mileage, non-running, or accident-damaged
Option 2: Auction
Commercial vehicle auctions move a lot of DAF trucks — the brand’s volume means there are usually bidders present. The unpredictability of what day yields what price, combined with buyer’s premiums and seller fees, makes auction a less certain route than selling direct.
Option 3: Private Sale
DAF trucks list well on Commercial Motor, Auto Trader Trucks, and Truckpages. For a clean, well-documented truck with a current MOT and competitive asking price, private sale can work — but it takes time, attracts tyre-kickers, and requires you to handle viewings, negotiations, and payment logistics yourself.
What Paperwork Do You Need?
- V5C logbook — registered keeper document
- Current MOT — or honest disclosure if expired
- Service history — all records, preferably DAF dealer documentation
- Finance settlement letter — if subject to HP or conditional sale
- Tacho calibration certificate — buyers will ask for this on working trucks
We handle all transfer documentation at Truck Trading. Bring your V5C and finance clearance — we take care of the rest.
