A fully-serviced tractor unit in mint condition with minimal mileage is, of course, going to warrant an excellent price; however, you don’t necessarily need a brand-new Mercedes Actros to get a fair price! We buy all kinds of tractor units, but for us to provide the best possible price, we would require an accurate description with a selection of photos that represent the vehicle’s condition.

Truck Trading has in-depth knowledge of all makes and models of tractor units. Our highly experienced team have seen just how costly auction houses can be for those selling used semi-trucks, and we understand the delays that can be encountered with online advertising, especially if you’re only attracting tyre kickers who are not willing to give you a fair price. We’re here to simplify the process for you, taking away the stress of selling your used tractor unit, providing quick quotes and faster payment. If you’re unsure what your vehicle is worth, or would like to request our best possible offer, simply complete the form above and we’ll be in touch with a transparent quote as soon as possible.

Tractors units tow trailers, usually with a fifth-wheel hitch, so they can have anywhere between two and five axles, with two (or more) of which are used for steering or moving the vehicle. Unlike rigid trucks, a tractor unit can decouple from one trailer and hook up to another one before the first has been unloaded, saving a great deal of time and money. With a modular approach, they provide versatility for hauliers. Tractor units can be used to tow liquid-filled tankers, shipping containers, and refrigerated trailers as well as many other types.

As discussed, tractors have many axles depending on axle load legislation. The most common varieties that we buy are those of 4×2, 6×2 and 6×4 types (where a 6×4 has 3 axles with 2 of the axles driven). The 6×4 units are prevalent in long-distance haulage, especially in larger countries such as the USA and Australia. Lightweight tractors provide plenty of versatility, efficiency and value for payload-hungry hauliers. Also known as semi-trucks, these vehicles are more sophisticated and advanced than they were just ten years ago. Some countries require tractor units that haul flammable liquids or gases to have a specially altered electrical system, which involves modifying the system to reduce the possibility of sparks that could ignite the load. The majority of tractor units are powered by diesel engines that have large displacements and can deliver ample torque to haul heavy loads.
